Before we talk about our organization and our current activities, we thought you might be interested in learning a bit about where we live. Siskiyou County is located in inland northern California, adjacent to the Oregon border. Most of the population of 45,000+ people live along the I-5 corridor running thru the middle of the county. Traditional industries in the region are resource-based and include forest products, mining, agriculture and ranching. As more people discover the mild climate and the picturesque natural beauty of our mountains and valleys, our communities are becoming retirement and vacation destinations. The names of our communities- from biggest population to smallest are Yreka, Mt. Shasta, Weed, Dunsmuir, Montague, Tulelake, Dorris, Etna, Ft. Jones along with several smaller unincorporated towns. Political affiliation percentage is 37% Democrat, 42% Republican and 21% Independent. Again welcome to the online presence of the Siskiyou County Democrats.
