DCCSC Postcard Writing Campaign: Dianna James for CA State Assembly
Siskiyou Democrats are planning to send postcards to support Dianna James for CA State Assembly in Siskiyou and Modoc counties and we need your help!
We will supply the postcards, stamps and instructions on what is needed. Our plan is to send out the postcards just before ballots are mailed - around the end of September.
You will need to address the postcard and write a short message to the voter, then mail them.

If you are interested, please contact us HERE and let us know how many you can write. Because the stamps come in groups of 20 - it is helpful if you state the number using a factor of 20 (e.g. 20, 40, 60, etc). We will add your name to the list and get the materials to you sometime in early August.

Let's elect Diana James, who has been officially endorsed by the California Democratic Party( CADEM)! Dianna is from Mt. Shasta and you can find out more about her platform on her website: diannajamesad1.com

Audrey Denney visits Siskiyou County!

AUDREY DENNEY is running for the "short-term" replacement of the District 1 Congressional seat vacated by the late Doug Lamalfa. (Note: She will also run in the newly drawn CD1, however we will no longer be in that district beginning 2027, but rather in CD2.)
Audrey met with 200 voters in Siskiyou County on April 27, first, at the Senior Lunch at the Weed Community Center, offered weekely by the Family & Community Resource Center of Weed, meeting and greeting 95 people! Next she spoke to a lively crowd of 40 + people at Seven Suns Coffee and Cafe in Mt Shasta; followed by a lovely evening reception and buffet at a private home in Mt. Shasta.

Also attending the evening was Mt. Shasta's very own Dianna James, who is running for Assembly District 1.

Congressman Jared Huffman
visits Siskiyou County
Recently, CD2 Congressman Jared Huffman visited with key Siskiyou Democratic leaders to begin his campaign for the newly defined Congressional District 2 (CD2). (See Siskiyou Democrats' Newsletter for info on new Redistricting
and Special Elections.)
During his visit, around 35 active Democratic volunteers were able to ask Congressman Huffman about his views on a variety of topics. He urged all of us to "keep showing up" as it is critical for the people to remain involved in fighting the authoritarian activities taking place by the Executive Branch. It will be critical - when the Democrats take back Congress - to assert Article 1 of the Constitution concerning Separation of Powers. We all appreciated the opportunity to hear from the Congressman and are looking forward to having new representation.
Since this was a limited venue and was designed for a small group of active volunteers, Congressman Huffman will be scheduling future larger events in Siskiyou County and we will keep you posted on when those will be.

Yummy tri-tip and chicken from Sweet Tomato Pie!! Locally brewed craft beer from Mt. Shasta Brewing Company! Amazing desserts and fabulous Obama memorabilia auction!

Proposition 50 Canvassing

Siskiyou Democrats have knocked on over 500 doors so far in Mt. Shasta and Yreka and voters were very supportive. (Note: The state party has set up our canvassing contacts to be Democrats and democrat-leaning independent voters only.) We enjoyed the conversations and were thanked many times for getting the word out.
We need more canvassers for the weekends in October listed below. The best way to counter misinformation is to talk to voters directly. Haven't knocked on doors before? We will be providing training on what you need to do and will pair you with another canvasser (you will not be alone). Many of us have knocked on thousands of doors and can help you! It is fun to talk to neighbors.
UPCOMING CANVASSING FOR PROP 50 in SISKIYOU COUNTY

Mt Shasta Freeway Signs and Yreka Rally on the
Fourth of July Weekend
For three days, over 60 activists in Mt. Shasta displayed signs to freeway travelers from two bridges. As Maggie Shepard reported: "Thanks to our local Indivisible group, there was a celebration of our right to dissent here in Mt. Shasta. It was a fitting way to spend the holiday. It was remarkable that a large percentage of the vehicles honking support were semi-trucks."
