Siskiyou Democrats Fundraising Dinner on September 27th--Big Success!

Recent Pro -
Proposition 50 Canvassing

Siskiyou Democrats have knocked on over 500 doors so far  in Mt. Shasta and Yreka and voters were very supportive.  (Note: The state party has set up our canvassing contacts to be Democrats and democrat-leaning independent voters only.)  We enjoyed the conversations and were thanked many times for getting the word out.

We need more canvassers for the weekends in October  listed below.  The best way to counter misinformation is to talk to voters directly.  Haven't knocked on doors before?  We will be providing training on what you need to do and will pair you with another canvasser (you will not be alone).  Many of us have knocked on thousands of doors and can help you!  It is fun to talk to neighbors.

Doug LaMalfa's Chico Town Hall
a blistering rebuke!

Thanks to everyone attending -- 600 persons strong!

Seven - term Rep. Doug LaMalfa, R-Oroville, held a hastily organized, early morning raucous town hall meeting on Monday, Aug. 11 in Chico.

Constituents criticized LaMalfa for supporting Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” which included cuts to Medicaid, called Medi-Cal in California, and food assistance as well as the president’s aggressive immigration enforcement.

“You have taken money out of poor people’s pockets and bought Gestapos,” said one constituent who compared warrantless arrests of undocumented immigrants to the secret police of Nazi Germany.

Mt Shasta Freeway Signs and Yreka Rally on the
Fourth of July Weekend

For three days, over 60 activists in Mt. Shasta displayed signs to freeway travelers from two bridges.  As Maggie Shepard reported: "Thanks to our local Indivisible group, there was a celebration of our right to dissent here in Mt. Shasta.  It was a fitting way to spend the holiday. It was remarkable that a large percentage of the vehicles honking support were semi-trucks."

MAIN STREET Rally in Yreka on July 4th: Over 80 activists in Yreka lined Main Street to protest!
Lots of positive reaction from the cars passing by.

June 14th NO KINGS RALLY
National Day of Resistance

What an incredible day. We had over 150 people in Yreka, and over 1,000 people in Mt Shasta.  WOW!!!!!    Such an uplifting experience. Thank you for coming if you were able to be there.  Thank you to all who helped organize and plan the events, and the people on the ground who made it happen and kept it safe. We have a great team of peace keepers in Mt Shasta, and we want to grow Yreka's safety team.  You all sure made good trouble!! -- Emily Gibson for Siskiyou Resistance Coalition.

Trump Republican and Musk cuts to essential national and local services and staffing, drove a strong protest crowd into the streets of Mt. Shasta and Yreka! "Uncertainty" & "Major Service Cuts to our Most Vulnerable":
The Themes from the May 19 Siskiyou Community Alliance Forum

A very engaged crowd of Siskiyou community members attended the May 19th forum sponsored by the recently formed non-partisan Siskiyou Community Alliance - SCA - (SCA Facebook). The recent federal funding cuts and what it means for our county were the primary agenda topics with a group of seven service providers outlining their experience of what is happening to their federally supported services

LaMALFA's Office Rally

On Friday, April 18, about 50 of us from Siskiyou County joined the crowd of over 250 at LaMalfa's office in Redding to protest his lack of action, lack of town hall meetings, lack of concern for his constituents, and so much more.  It was a great group and it was fun to see so many of our Siskiyou County activists joining with the Shasta County group on busy Churn Creek Road.  Surprisingly (for Shasta County), there were lots of "thumbs up" from drivers and very few negative reactions.

"NO KINGS" Rally April 19
More Photos on Homepage!

"No Kings" rally, hosted by South Siskiyou Indivisible in conjunction with 50501, was a big success!  An estimated 350 people attended from all around the county! And 100 people at the Yreka rally! April 19th was the 250th Anniversary of the start of the Revolutionary War with Paul Revere's ride and the battles of Lexington and Concord!

One goal of this event was to continue to build community and movement momentum in our rural county before the next widespread national mass mobilization in May.  Participants commited to the principles of non-violent, peaceful demonstration and keep a pathway for pedestrians to pass through the protest.  For information on your protest rights, visit ACLU Know Your Protest Rights webpage.
