AN INTERESTING BILL INTRODUCED IN CALIFORNIA:
California AB 1984 - Corporate Powers: Political Spending Power
SUMMARY from internet search on the bill is below. Here is the link to status: CalMatters AB 1984
California Assembly Bill (AB) 1984, introduced by Assemblymember Chris Rogers during the 2025-2026 legislative session, is a bill to restrict corporate political spending by redefining the powers granted to corporations in the state.
Details of the bill include:
Purpose: The legislation aims to bypass the federal Citizens United ruling by altering the state's corporate code rather than its election code. It operates on the premise that corporations are creations of the state and only hold the specific powers the government chooses to confer.
Restriction on Political Spending: The bill revokes all powers previously granted to corporations under state law and replaces them with a strict, explicitly defined list of permissible business activities. This explicitly denies corporations the "political spending power" to donate or spend money to support or oppose candidates, political parties, or ballot measures.
Penalties: Any act taken by a corporation that violates these limits on political spending is considered void. It also allows for the forfeiture of all corporate privileges, such as limited liability.
Enforcement & Reinstatement: The California Attorney General is authorized to enforce the provisions. To reinstate forfeited corporate privileges, an entity must disgorge all funds used in the exercise of illegal political spending

Siskiyou Resistance Coalition Information
The Siskiyou Resistance Coalition (SRC) continues to promote activities in June which are listed below. They also now have a very nice website. You can visit their website at: SiskiyouResistance.
June 14, Sunday, 4:30 pm Pacific time (7:30 pm EST) "Rise Up, Sing Out, A Concert for the First Amendment", Live Stream, organized by Committee for First Amendment and co-sponsored by No Kings and Indivisible. This is intended to counter Trump's birthday party event with incredible music and guests. There is no national rally/people on the street this time. Right now, there are 225 watch parties planned across the country.
(There is some confusion among the national resistance, because when the "No Kings Event" is mentioned, individuals automatically think it is going to be a massive protest.)
To sign up for the link to watch the event, go to: https://riseupsingout.com/ You can make a watch party at your house and invite friends, or watch yourself from home. There are no watch parties organized by the Siskiyou Resistance Coalition at this time. Flyer for the NYC Concert is at the end of this email.
June 27th, Saturday, "All of U.S. 250: A Nationwide Mobilization for Truth, Equality, & Freedom." From the website, "Americans across the country will march, rally, and gather for All of U.S. 250, a national day of action supported by Get Free, 50501-aligned partners, Political Revolution, and organizers across the broader No Kings ecosystem." The Siskiyou Resistance Coalition is planning big protests in Mt Shasta, Weed, and Yreka for this day. More info about the event here: https://allofus250.org/
Two Interesting Articles:
1) On Farming in the US
Farmageddon:
How American Farmers Voted for Their Own Destruction
and Called It Patriotism
In Siskiyou County, the biggest economic drivers are agriculture, tourism and wood products manufacturing. This (rather lengthy) article outlines what is happening with agriculture across the nation, and gave some interesting statistics on "Farmageddon".
For example, an excerpt from the article on the current state of farming in the US was striking: "The bankruptcies are climbing and not slowing. Chapter 12 farm bankruptcies rose 46 percent in 2025 — 315 filings, the third consecutive year of increases. The Midwest up 70 percent. Montana up 200 percent. April 2026 alone saw 62 Chapter 12 bankruptcies — a 130 percent jump from April 2025 and the highest single month since February 2020. 15,000 farms closed in 2025, most of them small family operations. Total farm debt is projected to hit a record $624.7 billion in 2026. Farmers are opening 40 percent more operating loans than in 2024, with the average loan 30 percent larger and taking three months longer to repay. They are not borrowing to grow. They are borrowing to survive long enough to plant."
